The obvious first step is to goto http://www.google.com/cse/
and click on the large blue button

 And you reach a page looking like this

Fill up the details and click on the standard edition, if you're a freebie

Now you'll be presented with an array of different styles. Chose one 

You may always customise if you do not like the predefined ones.

click on next 

and voila !! you get the code !!
